Závěrečné oponentní řízení projektu NPU I OneHealth (24. 05. 2019)

  • Epidemiologie a patogeneze veterinárně významných nákaz a zoonóz
  • Vývoj a aplikace metod pro diagnostiku původců onemocnění a kontaminant potravních řetězců a prostředí
  • Metody tlumení, prevence a terapie veterinárně významných onemocnění a zoonóz

MVDr. Martin FALDYNA, Ph.D., Head of the Department of Immunology, gave an interview for TV Zemědělec (Profi Press s.r.o.).

The topic of the interview was infectious diseases of pigs and poultry, especially those investigated at the VRI's specialized departments.

For example:
  • Infection with the pig reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus
  • Post-weaning diarrhoea of pigs induced by enterotoxigenic strains of Escherichia coli
  • Salmonella infections, etc.
Activities focused on manipulating the gut microbiota were also presented. Furthermore, Dr. Faldyna gave his opinion on the spread of African swine fever virus infection in wild boar populations, emphasizing the importance of biological protection for domestic pigs.

In the interview, he also commented on the importance of targeted and prudent use of antimicrobials in agricultural production to reduce the prevalence of strains resistant to this therapy.

Finally, he presented the project entitled the Centre for Advanced Microbiology and Immunology in Veterinary Medicine AdmireVet under the Operational Programme Research, Development and Innovation, which was of great importance to the VRI, not only for the development of the Institute's infrastructure, but also for the implementation of follow-up projects dealing with basic and especially applied research.
